Unless you've been off the planet you will have heard that Katie Holmes (Mrs Tom Cruise) ran the New York Marathon this weekend.
Good for you, Katie. We talked about doing it in the office over pastries a few weeks ago but ended up deciding against running anywhere ever again.
But where did she stay?
What Katie did was stay at The Carlyle (from $700 a night for a classic room to $6,000 a night for a two bedroom suite).
Situated on Madison Avenue on the Upper East Side, the hotel is both a landmark and has been a destination of choice for glamorous celebrities since it was founded in 1930 (when celebrities really were glamorous).
Next year the hotel will be opening a new spa. Apparently:
Occupying two floors and 4,000 square feet, the Carlyle’s soon-to-open spa has been designed to meld so gracefully with the overall spirit of the hotel’s public interiors that it appears to have always existed. A sleek palette of slate, charcoal and black complemented by finishes in nickel, chrome and glass and rich molding convey the sophisticated attitude of New York’s Upper East Side as well as the indelible character of The Carlyle.
So if we do end up going to New York for the marathon next year, we think we'll probably just end up spending all day in the spa.
