I recently joined travel agents and journalists for the launch of the Ruby Princess in Fort Lauderdale.

The launch started with the almost film-like backdrop of a glowing pink and amber sky. Everyone felt the part too, dressed in red in honour of the exciting and romantic launch (a Californian couple got married as part of the celebrations).

Suites on Ruby Princess are a good size and all have balconies (we even had the luxury of two televisions). Ours comprised a double bed, sofa bed, a table with four chairs and a table on the balcony.

Along with Ruby Princess's many boutiques, bars and art galleries there was a great choice of restaurants. We ate at the Crown Grill and the fantastic Italian Sabatini's, both highly recommended.

Later that night we were spoilt for choice... should we attend the Abba tribute, the casino, the English pub 'Whelars' or the many others options available to us?

Some people headed for the 'Movies Under the Stars', where you can snuggle up under a blanket watching a movie, whilst the rest of us headed to the disco!

Princess Cruises' new 'Silent disembarkation' policy proved a success. Passengers were given a letter informing them of what time to leave and where to meet. It ensured a pleasant end to an excellent trip.
