Shaun Browne has been appointed as aviation director at Bristol International airport. Browne's team includes head of sales, Jason Wescott, and head of communications, James Gore. Wescott will continue to work with carriers and holiday companies to support their sales and marketing programmes, with specialist executives focusing on business and leisure customers.

Key Travel has expanded its team with the addition of new account manager Rory Hall (pictured).
Hall has worked with several top air travel companies including Student Flights, Business Traveller, Carlson Wagonlit Travel and Travelocity Business, where he specialised in B2B sales targeting the commercial business sector.

Meanwhile, interim sales director Andy Speller has joined the company on a permanent basis as customer services director.
Speller will continue to directly manage the sales team, including account managers, but will also assume full responsibility for UK operations, which includes the dedicated reservations teams.

Great Hotels Organisation, the London-based sales and marketing alliance, has announced the appointment of Jeffrey Gan as senior vice president for Asia. In this newly created role, Gan is responsible for developing the GHO brand and demand in Asia. He will be based at the company's Asian office in Singapore.

Gan brings more than 25 years of hospitality, sales and marketing experience to GHO. He most recently worked as vice president of business development for Pan Pacific Hotels and Resorts, where he was responsible for developing new hotel management contracts in the region.

Carlson Wagonlit Travel has announced the appointment of Nick Cocking as director of programme management. Cocking's appointment follows the departure of Paul Boyle to take up the role of general manager Hong Kong on February 2.

In his new role Cocking will lead the team responsible for all UK corporate client relationships. Nigel Turner, director of public sector and industry affairs will oversee the corporate team until Cocking makes the transition to his new role on April 1.

Since joining CWT in 1994 Cocking has progressed through a number of operational and account management roles both in the UK and Europe. In his current role as a senior director in the Global Programme Management team he has been responsible for looking after some of CWT's largest clients.

Tourism Australia has announced the appointment of Glen Davis to the position of trainer for the UK, Ireland and Nordic regions. Davis, who commenced the role on Monday 5 January, will be based in the London office.

Davis will be responsible for deepening Australian destination knowledge by delivering training sessions to travel agents and Aussie Specialists.  The role will involve both on and offsite training events and will include shop visits and famils.

As an Australian, Davis has travelled extensively throughout the country and has lived in the UK since 2002.  He is incredibly excited to be appointed to the role as it means he gets to share his knowledge about his home country every day.

In his previous role, Davis was involved in the design and delivery of the Travelbag training programmes here in the UK.

The Co-operative Travel managing director Mike Greenacre has taken on a new role as a trustee of The Travel Foundation.

He joins two other two trustees, who have been newly appointed: Wexas International managing director Steve Allen and Tourism Concern senior project manager Guyonne James.

The Travel Foundation is an independent UK charity set up to help the travel industry manage tourism sustainably.

Thomas Cook-owned Elegant Resorts has appointed Nathan Philpot as managing director.

Philpot, currently director at WEXAS - The Traveller's Club, will start in the role at the end of February, reporting into Thomas Cook managing director of scheduled businesses Sue Biggs. Philpot previously worked for Biggs as head of marketing at Kuoni.

Stella Travel Services has appointed Andrew Botterill as UK managing director as part of a restructure that sees the departure of  European boss Shane Flynn.

He will take responsibility for all the group's UK businesses, including Travel 2, Travelbag, Harvey World Travel and Global Travel Group.

Midlands Co-op Travel appoints two cruise advisers

Midlands Co-op Travel has appointed two new cruise advisers.

Mike Powell and Karen Harold, with a combined 60 years experience between them, will join several other accredited cruise experts at The Co-op to take part in sales development, staff training and development of the business.

Jonathan Huglin has been appointed general manager of the Radisson SAS Hotel, Leeds. He succeeds Ms Ingibjorg Olafsdottir who has left the company to pursue another career opportunity.

Huglin grew up in Cape Town, South Africa and has almost 20 years experience within the hospitality industry, having started his career as room service supervisor. In 1992 Huglin joined Halcyon Hotels and was quickly appointed to head chef, where he continued his career with the group holding positions as executive chef, restaurant operations manager and general manager.

 
Huglin commented, "These are very interesting and exciting times for the city and for the hotel. I have a wonderful team and we are continuing to build on the hotel's already excellent reputation to ensure it is the number one choice for both business visitors and tourists to stay. I am going to work closely with Leeds City Council and Marketing Leeds to help promote Leeds to a wider audience. "

Buisness travel management company Carlson Wagonlit Travel UK has announced the appointment of Julie Crawford as director of meetings and events.

Crawford joined CWT in 2003 as director of EMEA Hotel Solutions Group, where she led a large team providing hotel sourcing expertise and programme implementation for major corporate clients in the UK, Europe and globally. Crawford's appointment reflects the importance of the growing Meetings & Events sector to CWT in the UK.

Prior to joining CWT, Crawford spent seven years as a management consultant for Accenture, focusing on travel, transportation, customer relationship management and strategy development.
