Mardan Palace - hotel heaven or hell?

room.JPGThis is the Mardan Palace in Antalya, Turkey. Reviewed recently in the Sunday Times, it is a real love-it or hate-it hotel.

The Mardan cost a reported £1 billion to build and promises a return to the opulent, golden age of the Ottoman Empire. Set to open in June, the hotel is divided into an elaborate Ottoman wing and a more contemporary European wing.

With gondolas and restaurants in giant aquariums, it looks like the Mardan has taken a (golden) leaf out of Vegas and Dubai luxury hotels. It might be way OTT, but I think I could turn a blind eye long enough to enjoy a couple of nights here.

What do you think - hotel heaven or hell?

Ilya:

It doesn't matter. They spent 1 billion for hotel. It's behind the borders of evil or good. I personally would prefer to stay not in museum but among living people .

Steve:
