Ok Ok no I'm not going to get into the controversial what makes a hotel or a B&B or a guesthouse debate. I honestly don't know exactly what the answer is and don't massively care as long as there are friendly staff, a clean room and comfy bed.
However I did think it worth flagging up the AA 2009 B& B awards winners and of course the Scottish win provided me with the gratuitous excuse for putting in a pic of ol' Nessie!

- AA Guest Accommodation of the Year, England - Chatton Park House, Northumberland
- AA Guest Accommodation of the Year, Scotland - Loch Ness Lodge, Inverness
- AA Guest Accommodation of the Year, Wales - Tan-Yr-Onnen Guest House, Denbighshire
